My ten year old said this book was "Amazing! But sad too."She tore through it at lightning speed and is looking forward to Book 4.

This third volume in the Cleopatra in Space series lives up the excitement introduced in the first two volumes. Once again, Cleopatra is out to take space by storm, but first she has to survive an attack by Octavian's fleet of ships. When she and her friends get separated, they set out to find the answers they set out to find on the planet of Hykosis. But they aren't that far ahead of Octavian and soon find themselves in more trouble than ever before. Maihack has created a really fun series with a great female lead. The other characters are important to the story, even seeming adversaries. The author even throws in some shocking twists that change the arc of the story in surprising ways. For young graphic novel aficionados this is a thoroughly engaging series with great characters and great plot twists. Highly recommended.

Another great installment in the Cleo series. The characters are imaginative and the worlds have depth and whimsy. My son loves these books and adults can appreciate them as well.

A lot of the puzzle pieces really start coming together in this one. Cleopatra just keeps getting better and better. And did I mention the amazing sets/locations? Some of these pages you could look at for days and days. Mr Maihack's work is as stunning as ever.

My daughter is a huge fan of this action series starring a time travelling Cleopatra who is more Lara Croft than your typical princess.

My 9 year old daughter LOVES this series. She gets a (tiny) bit of history and sees a strong girl taking action; she even looks a bit like her! I love that she's found something that she is excited to read and it's not all princesses waiting to be saved. The graphic novel format also allows my younger daughter to flip thru the book and "read" it as well!

My daughter and I both love this series! The story line is fun to read and the illustrations are great

They include suicide, grief, mental illness, self harm, bullying, abuse, addiction, eating disorders, and plenty of family dysfunction. If you're looking for a hopeful, lovely read, this is not the book for you. If you want to gain understanding about what leads to someone wanting to take their own life or what life is like for the friends and family members of those who have, this is the one. This is a super duper important book.Whoever you are and whatever your background, please be safe while reading this book. It's full of people courageously sharing some of the most difficult life experiences anyone can go through. There is hope but there's more pain. This is an upsetting book. There's no way it can't be.I would have personally preferred for there to be fewer stories but more detail in this book. Often I felt like the stories were written with a focus on the pain and ended with either the writer saying things have or haven't improved but I would have liked for there to have been a greater focus on the steps in the journeys that helped each individual. While no book is a substitute for medical advice or counselling, I feel it would have been useful for people looking for hope in their own lives to be able to clearly identify what worked for each writer so they could implement the tools that they feel may be beneficial to them in their own lives.If you need support after reading any part of it, please reach out for it. The best first contact I can suggest (besides your local suicide hotline or emergency number) is your local doctor. I personally have two GP's that are unsung heroes in my life. Your local doctor knows your medical history (physical and psychological) and can offer support and guidance that's suitable for your situation. They can prescribe medication should you need it. They can refer you to the right service for you to get the help you deserve, whether that's a counsellor, support group or any number of other services that you probably aren't even aware of in your community.I'd recommend making a long appointment so your doctor and you have the time needed to spend on coming up with a plan that will help you in the short or long term. Your local doctor has likely heard it all before (many times) and you won't be telling them anything that will shock them. If you're too embarrassed to say what you need to then write it down and hand it to your doctor or read from it. In all likelihood they'll be supportive and proud of you for taking the first step in getting help. If your doctor isn't supportive then by all means try another and another until you find one that will help you.I accidentally came across Project Semicolon on social media several years ago. When I read that the semicolon was chosen because in literature a semicolon is used when an author continues a sentence rather than ending it, I loved the symbolism and it's stayed with me.I liked seeing all of the various semicolon inspired tattoos scattered through the book. While I don't have any permanent tattoos, I adore them and always have a variety of the temporary kind on hand whenever the whim comes to decorate or express myself. I do have a stack of semicolon tattoos and use them whenever I'm going through a difficult time to remind myself that I've gotten through difficult times before and I'll get through this one too. I find it's a subtle but effective visual reminder.When I'm struggling with whatever I'm facing, I remind myself that my story is not over yet and that simple reminder has never failed to provide me strength. In the midst of emotional or physical pain it can be difficult to see past it and remember that it hasn't always been like this. One of the things I've discovered over the years is that everything is temporary.I've had times where I was certain I'd never smile again and when I look back on those times now it hardly seems like I'm the same person who felt that way. I've had a number of the triggers in this book as my triggers over the years and some of those are no longer triggers, and those that are don't trigger me with the same intensity or frequency that they once did.I look back at 15 year old me who had already attempted suicide three times and I want to go back and tell her all of the things she'll miss out on in the future if she doesn't survive. Not wanting to sound facetious, but can you imagine the books I would have missed out on reading over the past 20 odd years and how many I plan to read in the future?! And that's just one thing I would've missed out on! I think of a primary school friend who seemed to have it all yet died by suicide in her early 20's. I want to give her a huge hug and say that one thing, whatever it would have been, that would have meant things would have turned out differently for her and her family.I promise you, nothing stays the same. Things can, and do, get better. There is someone who will understand you and your situation. You do have what it takes to recover, whatever that looks like to you.

Inspiring and hopeful. People push through life despite trauma or mental illness that tries to destroy them. Help break the stigma. Read stories of peoples courage and faith in knowing each day starts a new chapter. I love this book.

I cant quite read it all yet. Too close to home. One writer, made me stop and be thankful that I can still fight this battle for my daughter and me.

So far so good. I like that this translation seems less old fashioned than some others. Pevear and Volokhonsky have a mixed reputation--such is the difficulty with putting someone else's words into your own. If everyone wants to know exactly what Tolstoy or Dumas is really like, the best course would be to read them in the original language! However, I do still believe translation matters; what I have found is that in the case of these translators they tend to retain more of the author's intentions. I have been told by Russian readers that Dostoevsky could sometimes read as difficult and confusing in Russian but also more exciting; most popular English translations from the early 20th century tend to even out the dynamics of the text, making it read closer to Jane Austen's voice than you might be comfortable with. Imagine Pulp Fiction, or The Matrix, or Hitchcock (something adventurous ) remade using the most staid and edible film conventions...so much of what makes those stories special would be lost.As far as I understand, this edition retains much of the Dumasness in English and in the process is a great read! A classic like this could be butchered to death by tasteless fools and still hold onto some worth so, since the translation is clean and interesting, the material is elevated. Whatever your preference, this version certainly warrants a place in the market and quite possibly your bookshelf.

I got this for my sister after she had her second child. I kind of felt that she needed a copy with an old school binding for her son to discover on her bookshelf, or in storage, or somewhere around the house like I did as a kid.The copy lived up to the look I wanted. It had the design that would be intimidating when he was learning to read, the design that made it clearly an "adult" book...and then the title: "The Three Musketeers" which was enough, at least for me, to give it a peak inside and discover the adventure.I hope things go the same way here. Its really a must read for childhood and it has that mysterious feel that a kid would eventually be attracted to.

Often older translations of works like the The Three Musketeers can seem stilted to modern readers. Translator Lawrence Ellsworth believes that some of these versions "simply don't properly convey the energy and tone of Dumas's original work" (p. xix). This is not a criticism that could be applied to his translation. This book is lively, carrying the story dynamically from page to page. He manages to do this without some of the glaring anachronisms that can sometimes plague a modern translation. He also provides useful notes that help to explain some of the historic events and references.I'm not qualified to say if this is an accurate translation but is certainly an accessible, highly readable and fun one. Highly recommended.

I had read the entire d'Artagnan saga this summer and loved it. But I read where this translation of the first book was really a good one. So I read The Three Musketeers again and was delighted with it. I was able to better appreciate the differences in the four friends and realized that I loved d'Artagnan and really liked the others because d'Artagnan loved them. I am now reading another translation of Twenty Years After. I am enjoying the historical events and the real people who participated in them, and that d'Artagnan participated in then. Dumas has a fine sense of humour and writes wonderful dialogue.

I have seen several movie versions of this tale, but none do it true justice.It is not difficult to like the four main characters, each is unique, memorable and loyal. I appreciated that they were based upon real men, actual musketeers, who lived, loved and fought during that time in French history.Some of the events in the story are also a matter of historial fact. So I'll comment on the presentation.This is the only 99 cent version of this book that I've seen for Kindle that had actual *editing* done to it! It is well laid out, and includes numerous appropriate illustrations. The only problem is that some of the formatting doesn't quite look right. The all-caps text appears tiny and some of the illustration titles use a peculiar mix of fonts that occasionally appear larger or smaller than normal text. It's a minor problem, but it can be distracting.I'm not positive, but I suspect the source text for this is the free Project Gutenberg version. However, unlike most of the cheap Kindle editions that merely copy and paste the text from Project Gutenberg, the editor who created this ebook took the time to convert ALL CAPS to italics, spent some time formatting it, and added illustrations. It also has the coolest looking cover of any Kindle edition of The Three Musketeers.The Penguin Classics edition has better editing and presentation, but it's $13. For 99 cents, this Kindle edition is well worth it. Certainly more worth it than every other 99 cent version I've sampled, and it's definitely better than the free Amazon Services edition.Recommended!

I really liked this little book. A lot of us need a 'spare' healthy bedroom, a place to camp in, a 'hotel' room when travelling, or even a place to live in fulltime while exploring wild and/or pristine areas. But not all of us have the time or ability to figure out how to do it/make it. Personally, I bought and sold two fiberglass trailers. I hated them both. When new they are very toxic, but when used they often had maintenance issues, hidden leaks, mold, and most of them have some kind of carpet all over the walls and ceiling. They are small, but they still require towing, hitches, stabilizers, chocks, levelling, maintenance, winterizing, and managing the terror of changing lanes on highways where semi's are barrelling by. It's just too much stress, and so I just frequently tent camp, and throw the tent out and get a new one when it gets somewhat yucky. A tent is low stress.But often I've looked at vans--especially the E350's with lots of windows, used by schools and churches, and wished I could convert one. I realized that I could convert a van and just store it at a storage place when not using it, for $18 a month for the parking space. I wouldn't have to give up my own vehicle. No towing, no hitches, no trouble, no axles, no worries about plumbing leaks or rain intrusion, no learning how to maneuver a trailer on the road, making narrow turns, learning how to back up, managing traffic, and on and on. Just drive. I just had no idea how to do it. It's all too much of a time sink to figure out. Here, it's laid out. In fact, I wish the author had included many more photos, even diagrams, and much more detail. I hope in future editions she adds as much detail as humanly possible. The more the better.Having a guide to converting a van makes the idea so much more approachable. One could even give the book to someone and say, Here, do it for me--(after testing materials). I may not get around to it soon, but I would just want to do what she did, or hire someone while I oversaw it--with a few simple variations (might add a portable a/c, might use wood cabinets, shellacked, under the bed). I have a feeling lots of people will be making this kind of van conversion. Hopefully their own insights and fixes will lead to future conversions that are even better.

Not all adventurers are young, wealthy, or invincible. Sara gives permission, instruction and insight for us less- perfect specimens to implement our dreams. Great book. I have a lot of chemical sensitivities and in recent years have developed severe allergies to mold. This is my dream, to create my own van/camper and hit the road south to Arizona and dry air.The author gives lots of details about how she added a bed, shelving and cabinets to a transit van. Book is great but definitely not worth the money

The authors' story of how Polaris created Victory Motorcycles is truly an inspirational new product development journey. A visionary business plan, coupled with a highly motivated, passionate, and skilled team gave us an outstanding American motorcycle alternative. I hope the authors have an updated edition planned. Victory has come a long way since the first book was released. It would be great to read about Victory's progress in recent years.

I am a fan of the owners workshop manuals. The book is a wonderful reference into the the history and specifications of the international space station. In my opinion it is a great book, but will need to be supplemented as it is pretty broad and only meant to get you the basics

It was the perfect book for my 13 year old grandson.

Haynes manuals are usually filled with assembly and repair pictures. That's what I wanted from this book. Here's a drawing of the S0 truss, here are where the parts that live on it are attached. Here's how it is installed. This is just a short book on the ISS no better or worse than any other. The drawing on the cover is the best one you'll get.

This novel turned out to be a very very good read. It tells the true story of a young American who becomes a member of Sayeret Duvdevan after movingto Israel from the United States. His mother remarries a Hollywood executive. Their new home is in Beverly Hills,California. Aaron turns into adiscipline problem. His mother sends him to a military school in Canada. The name of this academy is Robert Land Academy. At this academy he comes under the influence of Colonel Bowman. Colonel Bowman teaches him the superior training and abilities of the Israeli Defense Forces(IDF). Aaron makesthe decision to move to Israel and become a citizen. He promptly joins the Israeli Defense Forces(IDF). After gaining combat experience and living on a kibbutz he decides to try out for the Israeli Special Forces. He is selected as a member of Sayeret Duvdevan. This is the Israeli equivelent of theNavy Seals and Green Berets. This turns out to be an experience. They conduct battles with Hamas and do operations against money raisers and financierswho fund the operations of terrorist organizations. They are able to capture a prominent Hamas member named Abu Jihad. Aaron finally reaches the pointwhere he can retire. Aaron moves back to California and opens his own security firm named IMS. This is a very good book. You should read this.

I was very pleasantly surprised. The book is divided (in my mind) into 4 sections. The first is how he wound up in the Israeli Army. I thought his story rang true. The second part was his training for the Elite Unit and how he made sure he got there. Again -- i thought told brilliantly without arrogance and with much introspection. The fourth part was his actual service. The fourth part is post army. He explains in vivid detail the rigors of the training and the challenges a soldier faces -- both physically and psychologically. This wasnt Green Beret stuff....he talks about the dangers the soldiers face and the loneliness of being in such a unit. Really great.

When I came to the question of how many stars, I hit the 5 stars withouth even thinking about it! I didn't have too. I read the entire 274 page book in 2 days! Written in a way to be easily read and understood, I couldn't put it down. The glimphs into the authors childhood, military school in Canada, and the incredible training he endured, that in my experience of 30 years of reading of military history to include the SAS, SEAL's, Green Beret, and others, the Israeli special forces I believe go thru worse, and endure more than any other! (For one reason, some their treatment in special forces training would be illegal)!They have to, due to being on a war footing at all times. Then, to the missions in "enemy territory," to snatch suspected terrorists, makes for incredible suspense! I would highly recommend this book to anyone, as a must read!

At times it seems the author reveals too much about operations of Israeli special forces and CT units, but in the end, not really. Quickly, it can be seen why the Israelis are the best fighting force in the world.The most interesting part of the book is at the very end when the author talks about his current career. It's amazing to see that even after 9/11, we are still reactive, instead of proactive, when it comes to security. What is really frightening, especially to anyone connected with our school systems no matter what the grade or year, is the total lack of preparedness and training which exists to deal with "school shooters." The fanatical opposition, mostly by teacher unions and administrators, to the presence of properly trained, and armed, security personnel in schools and the reliance on improperly trained, and remote, public safety forces should give pause to anyone who attends a school in this country or who sends a family member off to school.

This is a superior book written by a semi silver spoon Beverly Hills kid who dreams of making a difference and honoring his Jewish roots by going to Israel to participate in the elite special forces in what stands today as any country's most advanced and successful anti-terrorism elite special forces with methods and practices that if applied to the United States special forces would enhance our security abroad and right here at home.A compelling story of a young kid who has little idea of what he is about to get himself into, but ending up with a life that most would consider both very fulfilling and so very honorable by all defense and military buffs! A book that is hard to stop listening to and each time you do break, you look forward to the next time you will get to listen to more.I recommend this book highly for all readers who have an interest, however, be advised that as with most military books, at times there is harsh language so definitely PG-13+ rating. Not overly violent but very candid about the difficulties in the geopolitics and the physical and mental strain one undergoes when training for special forces, much like our Seal teams or England's MI6. A book I am happy to have in my library and to have experienced! Get this book!
