It’s a decent book however the author of the book is an extremely closed minded. He seems to have the inability to accept new data as it comes in and change his opinions. This is obviously because he has a book out and would not want to contradict anything he has put to print. His YouTube channel provides good data from the panel of doctors but he talks negatively about other doctors in the field that he doesn’t agree with. If you post a comment or question that he doesn’t like he bans you from the channel. Even if the comment or question is written in the most polite and respectful manner. So I personally can’t respect his opinions if he has the lack of interest in an open discussion that could possibly make his books information less valuable. The topic of TRT is constantly evolving and new information is coming in all the time. He most recently banned Dr. John Crisler because of his opinion on estrogen. Dr. Crisler is the most known doctor on the planet regarding TRT and he admits himself he’s still learning and adapting to the understanding of TRT as new data comes in, unlike the author of this book. Overall I feel like the book has decent information but I’ve read many other books regarding TRT and I just prefer getting the information from an actual doctor who has patients and specializes in TRT and does this everyday, Not just looking to sell a book.

This book opened my eyes to something that I personally had reservations about. Totally shifted my perspective in more ways than one. This book is filled with so much important information even if you don’t need therapy at the moment you will know what to do and what to watch out for and how to go about doing it in a clear and informed way. I haven’t encountered a doctor who could explain and make this info so accessible. I wish I had been exposed to this info a long time ago. Would have adjusted certain lifestyle factors so much earlier. It kills me when someone release a self help book bible and they basically just use it as an advertisement for you to buy more things or if you just buy this other book you will get answers. This book is 110 percent opposite. So full of content and useful facts and research. I will say it again. This is a paradigm shifting book. To top off the icing on the cake is it’s easy to read and well written. I felt like I was hanging out with my best no bs friend and gettin my ey Head blown off with the goods. . Buy it. you won’t be sorry. I believe this book will finally crack the weird misconceptions in the public sphere for men reclaiming their own health. You guys are hands down doing something extrodinary for humans.

So, I turned 47 last year and not that 47 is considered a milestone, but something “clicked” and I started wanting to take better care of myself. As a big part of that “switch” I started to research everything. There is SO much good information to sift through but I ultimately ended up hearing about Jay Campbell from a podcast. After listening to him, I immediately knew he was on to something, with his and his team’s research on testosterone.This book isn’t a sit down and all at one time, plow through it, because it is PACKED with great and more importantly NEW thinking and research.If you’re interested in learning about testosterone, how to take ownership of your health, specifically around the benefits of regulating your testosterone levels, you need to buy this book. Honestly, I feel like I probably know more than my doctor about my own levels, after reading this.Buy it and use it as a continual reference. Pass it along!!

A book and a message that changed my life years ago. It's been sad to read "christians" tear down this message, trying to hyper-critique the ways John shares stories from the Bible or how he speaks to men. Men all over the world found freedom to be themselves in their experience and relationship with God, to begin to actually walk with God, hear His voice and know His heart. I know men all over the U.S. who began to rise up to love their wives, find their calling, engage the lives of their kids, and begin to love the life God has given them and live it well! And thousands of families have also experienced so much good because of this.If you're the type that feels it's your god-given duty to scour the texts of books to find all "the errors" and expose "heresy", I'm sure you can (or already have) gleefully torn away at John's message. But, honestly, I ask, "Really? Why not just become an IRS agent instead?" And, I say, "Get a life." Sincerely, I say, go get a life that worth's living! Stop hiding behind your computer or your pulpit or your religious duties or your secret addictions and find the wide open spaces of life!The message of WAH, both in the book and in the retreats Ransomed Heart put on based on this message was an invitation for me to experience God in ways I never thought possible and to experience life in its fullness in ways I never thought possible. And not only was it an invitation, it was permission to finally live my life. Maybe that doesn't make sense to many, but it was a game-changer for me. After returning from a WAH retreat, my wife literally said to me, "What happened? You even look different." My life will never be the same. Nor will the life of my wife and my children.

I am not surprised there was a lot of negative feedback on the topics expressed in this little book. In these times it is no longer valid to use gender to explain why you may like or dislike certain things. This book is not meant only for the jock, or the outdoorsman. It is meant for the heart that yearns to find ways to express a passion that may seem wrong for a Christian man, and that's really it.There are many opinions on how we should behave, or more recently that we do not behave as men have in the past. It is true we are meant to be adventurous and a bit wild but that is a different thing for each man, not a template- the author was simply expressing it as he himself saw it. It is up to you to find your passion, your wild side, and break free of the life you may mistakenly think is correct as a follower of the Way of God. But there are many different paths, as long as we stay on that straight and narrow one, neither turning to the left or the right- being obedient, faithful. I would say if it doesn't trouble your spirit, go for it! The only opinion that matters is Gods, not mans.I myself do many things that aren't considered manly yet also do things that are over the top! For example, I write poetry, rescue ladybugs, read about decorating and color and style, and tear up over emotional things- I am sentimental, and I try to show empathy to others at all times. I also carry a concealed firearm, practice Tang Soo Do and Krav Maga, and regularly work out with weaponry such as knives and sticks- and I am trying to learn Iado, the Way of drawing and cutting with the katana. I love long walks, but I don't watch sports, and can't tell you anything about any team. I don't bunjee dive or shoot down the rapids or any of that, but I see it as valid. Again, if it doesn't become the end in itself it is all up to that old thing we used to call conviction- the Holy Spirit will tell you it isn't something you should do. It isn't nerds vs. jocks, or the cultured, educated man vs the uneducated manual laborer. (I work in a factory, and that is because I chose to work with my hands after spending half my life working in the Mental Health field.) We are all part of the body- and scripture says no particular part is favored above the other. So embrace your inner wild man and push your boundaries a little bit! For some of us it isn't much or very daring, but it is enough to inspire the soul.

If you want to write a book about what you feel to be true, that's one thing, but when you bend, distort and flat out lie about what the Word of God says to back your belief, well then expect to be judged by God's Word.If that's the case this book is heretical at best.It seems like throughout this book the author is trying too hard to make up for some lack of machismo he thinks he needs.I actually watched one of the Wild at Heart Bootcamp sessions where John Eldredge makes fun of Mister Rogers and insinuates Fred Rogers is not a "real" man.So in this book and others authored by Eldredge, he sets out to show what a "real man" he is by climbing mountains, hunting bear, tracking elk, blah, blah, blah.....Like any good poker player knows, you always portray just the opposite of what you are.Read 'em and weep:)

Maria T. Codina Leik, MSN, APRN, BC, FNP-C is the President and Principal Lecturer at National ARNP Services, Inc., her own company. Well-known for her ability to simplify complex concepts for her students, she is a popular speaker and educator. Ms. Leik taught previously in the NP program at Florida International University Graduate School of Nursing. I wanted to write a review that would help NP students/graduates that are in the position that I was a few months ago.1. AANP vs. ANCC? I put a lot of thought into which board exam I wanted to take and why. I ended up choosing ANCC-FNP for the main reason that I feel nursing, in general, encompasses many different areas other than just medicine, including ethics, legal, culture, theories, etc. To me, the AANP exam seemed kind of geared towards the PA & medicine realm. During my conference, a lot of people were turned off by the new questions that were appearing on the 2014 ANCC exam. By this I am talking about the questions that have 3 correct answers, pictures, and matching. There were many of these on the exam, but don't be overly concerned about this, it all works out in the end.2. How long do you prepare for the exam? There is no right or wrong answer to this. On average, I felt that my colleagues studied for ~8 weeks. I, personally, studied for 4 months only because of the fact that I was going through many life changes during my study period (e.g., selling my house, moving out of state, working FT, looking for a new jobs, etc.). I tried to study 2 hours/day, with 1 study-free day. I do have to say that I felt overly prepared during the exam and that 85% of what I studied was not even on the exam!!3. LEIK: I have to say that this was the BEST, most HELPFUL book that I purchased for my studies. I referred to it as my study 'bible.' I read through the whole book, front to back, highlighting things that were important. Things that I loved about this book: it goes through a lot of "REAL LIFE" information during the first chapter. It gives you MANY inside TIPS throughout the book. It is very easy to read. I found the pharmacology section helpful. Although, not very extensive, this book had the best professional issues review. Lastly, I found the questions in the back (1,284 total-I did them all!) to be very fair and helpful.4. A CONFERENCE: I highly recommend attending the Fitzgerald conference LIVE. It was extremely helpful, never a dull moment. It was a 3-day conference. Well worth the $$. It comes with a review manual which is also a must-have!5. BARKLEY AUDIO CDS: Audio CDs were a must for me b/c I commute 2-3hrs/day. The Barkley CDs were really good and kept my interest throughout.6. HOLLIER: I recommend this as a book for solely practice questions. The questions are not overly hard and a good starting point. The book is laid out so that you can do 5 ?s, look at the answers, and so on. I rented to 2009 version from my library. Renting front a library is a great idea, but you can't write in them of course!7. FamlyNPrep.com: I bought 10 practice exams from here. I ended up not being able to take all 10. I would recommend buying 5, but unfortunately they only come in packages of 1, 10, 20. While the questions were just ok from here, I liked being able to (a) do practice tests on the computer (b) practice doing 200 ?s straight through and (c) get scores that were similar to the real test.8. FITZGERALD book: I also bought the Fitzgerald book and would not recommend reading this book front to back, like LEIK. The questions, while some information was duplicate from the conference, were fairly helpful.9. BROWN: This is a book completely practice questions. There were overly challenging and towards the end of my studying I was only getting 50-60% correct, which starting to make me concerned. I realized that I was not the only one who thought this. There are many questions about surgeries which aren't covered anywhere else, and quite frankly are not applicable! I didn't get a chance to use the CD that it comes with.10. FNP Secrets Study Guide: Don't waste your money. I just took the FNP Certification Exam through AANP and passed using Leik as my primary source and the Barkley Review as a secondary source. Here is my evaluation of each and tips for how to pass the exam!!!!!!I took the test in Jan 2018. I attended the Barkeley Review Live in-person review course for ~$400+, which included a comprehensive book, access to their review course online to review at your leisure, and a DRT, or digital readiness test in order to test whether or not your would pass the test if you took the certification exam today. Barkeley's materials and review course are VERY general and good for any new practitioner starting out, like me, because it really reviews everything you learned in school. The in-person review course was 2.5 days of 8-6 and one day of 8-2 of non-stop information overload. Looking back, I wouldn't choose to do Barkley again to prepare for the exam. The certification exam was extremely SPECIFIC whereas their material is very GENERAL and lacks testing techniques to help you pass. Barkeley does, however, help you feel prepared to begin a new job as a new practitioner.I ended up putting away Barkeley's material and gravitating toward Maria Leik’s book and app when I felt like my DRT readiness score was only in the 60's after reviewing the Barkeley cd's, book, and in-person review material for literally 6 months straight for 8 hrs at a time- something had to be missing here. Leik's book is an easy read and extremely COMPREHENSIVE. In her first chapter, she actually explains the format of the test, how many questions to expect, and test taking tips, which are a life-saver during the exam. One tip that saved me was:Use the MARK key often and liberally so you can re-read the questions you doubt. It Marked 50 questions and thought it was helpful. She also has an excellent chapter on how to effectively take the test- like write down all normal you see and write down things you want to remember during the exam while they give you the intro for 15 mins, etc. I found that helpful for the cardiac stuff, which I struggle with. It seriously helped me alleviate my extreme test anxiety I struggle with and remember vital information that was used repeatedly on the test, which I did not have to recite over and over again.Note that if you purchase this book on the Kindle App, it does not contain the access code to her phone app, which I think is essential for passing this test, in my opinion; however, if you purchase the physical copy of the book, the code is included. Not a wise choice by the book producer- they told me they hope to rectify that soon when I contacted them. As of now, the app is called "FNP Family Nurse Practitioner Prep 2018" by Springer Publishing and Higher Learning Technologies, Inc. It cost $70, which includes the entire Leik book and 720 AANC and AANP prep questions, which you can customize to your weaknesses. I cannot say enough good things about this app! I really think it is one of the key reasons I passed this test because it is most similar to the testing situation. With the app you can test yourself with each question and mark which questions you do and don’t know and the explanations are clearly laid out and easy to remember. They are the same as the book, but it is more similar to the board exam mode. I don't recommend just purchasing the app alone because the book really should be utilized again and again to read and highlight and return to sections of material you want to refresh your memory of. However, the app is great for refreshing quick knowledge of easily forgettable things like the Rule of 9's.In order to do well on the test, concentrate on elderly folks, not pediatrics the way Barkeley stresses. Barkeley was also wrong on almost every single thing they said that "everyone gets a question about this or that"- so not true. I did not get a single question they highlighted to remember in their live in-person review course or the audio cds. There was a ton of focus on geriatrics on my test in comparison to kids, which Barkley stresses.Also do the ANCC practice test online. It is free. At least 1 question was verbatim the same on my examination!I did not think it was easy by any stretch of the imagination though. There were a ton of medical terminology words that I have never heard of before even though I was a straight A student in my master's program, attended one of the top 5 nursing programs in the country, and have been in school for the past 7 years straight. Do not let that scare you though!!!!!!!! In my school at least, the professors taught us that drugs would be heavily emphasized on the test, I did not think that it was too bad. More commonly used drugs were used. However, what was tricky about the exam wasThe test was more specific and gave a ton of distractors in each question. It was like two diagnoses could be EASILY be the right answer made from the description. I often felt like I needed more information in the question!!!! I thought it was tough to parse out. Take each question and read the question once or twice. Then you can usually throw out one answer and you are not certain about the last three- something that helped me was actually making tic marks next to each answer choice of which one was MORE right than the others. Did it sound more like varicella? Does it sound more like Herpes? And so on and so forth. It helped a little, esp. for STD's and dermatology.However, at the end of the day even after feeling like I had no idea what was happening during the test and that the certification exam was not well excuted because too many questions had too many answer choices that sounded right based on the limited information in the scenario, I did pass. Don't be surprised if you don't get your score immediately in the testing room on your computer. I did not and I totally thought I bombed it. However, it was a computer glitch! Hopefully, some of these words I am passing on to you will help you take your test in confidence and not waste your money!!!!!

My 13 year old son and I loved the book. We enjoy Rick Riodan's writing. I am a bit conservative, but there is a character who is transgender. Had to Explain that, but this character is also a shape shifter, so explanation was ok. Interesting character.Definitely worth the read.

Disappointed. Definite agenda and right off noticed obvious digs at my personal religious beliefs. I’m a fan of mythology and enjoyed these books until the author decided to make them his soapbox. Deleted from my device and didn’t get past the first few chapters. Looks like this author is no longer an enjoyable read. My beliefs are attacked on a daily basis now, I’m sure not going to pay for it!

My 12 year old son isn't a bookworm. He reads because he has to read either for school or because I make him. But he's really enjoyed Riordan's books and has asked for each new one coming out. And he read this in about 3 days. He actually walked around with his nose in this book vs an ipad or soccer ball at his feet. So I'm a big fan.

I read this after I'd finished the third book in the series. How I missed this one, I don't know, but it was odd seeing references to things from book two of which I knew nothing. That said, this is another fine chapter in the continuing saga of Magnus Chase, demigod and Einerjar (careful how you pronounce that.) He and his friends, some of whom are alive in the normal sense, some of whom are once dead, like him, set out to find the stolen Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. (Thor misses it because it gets a slew of HD channels.) The story is full of ever increasing peril and difficulty, and serves to set up the (already reviewed here) third volume. The references to Norse mythology are a bit strained at times, but basically stick to the stories in the Eddas. For some reason, everybody in the nine worlds speaks contemporary English (Elvish is exactly the same as English. Go figure.) But that's nice because it means that the reader always knows what's going on. Here, as in the other two volumes, Ragnarok must be averted. Well, not to spoil anything, but of course, it is. Hope that doesn't disappoint you so much that you don't read this volume, because it's a damn fine book! Read it, you'll be glad you did!

Loved the Percy Jackson stories and the first Magnus Chase was decent. This seemed to focus more on political correctness instead of a story. Characters weren't developed, instead of developing them and showing us why you should embrace and celebrate someone different....the story was you must accept me without condition regardless of if I'm a jerk. The characters were terrible. Won't buy any more books in this series.

I recently reviewed Rick Riordan’s first Magnus Chase book (see review dated September 21, 2017). In preparation for the release of the third and final book of this trilogy, on October 3, 2017, I read the second book in Riordan’s Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, The Hammer of Thor.Book two picks up roughly six weeks after the end of book one, The Sword of Summer. Although Magnus is settling in at Valhalla, all is not settled. Thor has once again “misplaced” his hammer. Magnus has been charged with reuniting the hammer and Thor, and he must do so before the giants realize it is missing and attack. As with Riordan’s other books, this Magnus Chase book is full of adventure, suspense, interesting characters, and mythological information. As with the others, too, it is well written and clever. I enjoyed the book and recommend it, although this is not my favorite of Riordan’s series. I love the crossover between his different series, however. I think my favorite part of the book was the very last line, while Magnus was meeting with his cousin, Annabeth. To avoid any spoilers, I will say no more – but I am definitely looking forward to book three!

Excellent, excellent .... just like all of Riordan's books! I have been a fan since he was recommended by a student of mine 10 years ago! Riordan doesn't write fast enough for my students! Thank you Rick Riordan for lighting the reading magic for my middle school students. We are counting the days off for the next installment.

I have "Percy Jackson and the Olympians", "Heroes of Olympus", and "The Kane Chronicles", so I was excited that he decided to do the Norse gods. This book does not disappoint.

This book is an excellent addition to the first Lechner Book, "Heating Cooling Lighting". I am in the process of studying for my registration exam and in my opinion the text is well written in a way that is understandable to most and easy to follow.
