He is currently an adjunct instructor at South Florida Community College where he teaches PC repair,A+ Certification, Network Fundamentals, Network+ Certification, and many short workshops in various Microsoft business applications. He authored the textbooks Networking Fundamentals and Computer Service and Repair and coauthored the textbook Electricity and Electronics as well as designed andprogrammed the accompanying interactive CD-ROM. Mr Roberts did himself proud with all he put in this book. Pair it with Scott Mueller's book "Upgrading and Repairing Computers", and you will have a small but effective library on computers and their workings. All you would need then, is the drive to accomplish.

The book came on time and I was happy with the condition of the book. The book itself is kind of dry but informative. It is big and it does not have a good definitions page but it is okay.

This book has met all my current college class requirements for my degree in computer science

Michael Port's first book, Book Yourself Solid, was a terrific book. His latest is even better.There is so much to like about this book. It is refreshing to see an author stretch himself by writing a sequel that is a real extension to the predecessor. So many authors churn out books regurgitating that they have previously said. This book truly goes "beyond" his earlier book. Kudos, Michael Port, for being a true sequel writer.A second strength is the very thoughtful order in which this new material is presented. The table of contents alone has great value as a checklist for business success. And, the case studies placed at the end to reinforce the learning points presented in the book was a great idea.A third strength is the beautiful balance between sound business advice and worthwhile personal advice. As one that so believes the quality of one's business is a reflection of the quality of one's life, the author is to be congratulated for bridging the gap between business and personal attitude.A fourth strength is the quality of the advice offered. Having spent 25+ years as a business consultant, I am frequently appalled at the quality of advice given in books aimed at the same market as this one. I found not one point that I would debate in the 200 pages. Not a single one.I could go on and on. But, suffice it to say that I strongly recommend this book as a foundational philosophy for any entrepreneur, as well as for professionals in the large professional service organizations (e.g., law firms, accounting firms, etc.). Although the book was seemingly not targeted for the latter group, I believe that professionals in large firms could benefit by adopting Port's philosophies.

 I loved Book Yourself Solid and liked how practical it was. This book was still a very valuable read, but some of his terminology could have been used more clearly, and I wish that he's provided better take-aways as to specific actions readers can take right now after reading this book.I'd recommend this book if you want to think about yourself and your business differently, but if you are in the mood to actually take some step by step actions right now, save this book for when you are in a contemplative or planning phase of your business.

This book really helped me when I needed it most. I was overwhelmed, working too much, and constantly anxious that my business would spin out of control.This book did a great job of taking an overwhelming task - systematizing a business that had relied entirely on my own skill and expertise - and breaking it down into easily manageable parts.It's awesome. If you're having issues dealing with the amount of work you're creating, get this book, read it, and read it again.

Beyond Booked Solid, for me, was the next natural step in the evolution of my business. As I executed the 7 core self-promotion strategies I learned from Book Yourself Solid, Michael's first book, I came to a point where my business was becoming too much to handle by myself. After reading Beyond Booked Solid, and attending a two day, in person seminar on the book with Michael, I now have a scalable, implementable, and leveragable plan for growing my business that also encompasses my values and my desires into the growth. Thank you again, Michael, for another outstanding work!

The 80/20 rule. Being too busy doesn't free you to do higher end work that you want to get into. Beyond Booked Solid has great advice for those who have been in business a while who need to shift to their ideal work, not busy work.

I'm a Michael Port fan. Loved Book Yourself Solid, however this book did little to expand on the concept.To summarize this book,~Think positive~Set goals~Do what it takes to reach them~Franchise yourselfI kept his first book, this book I'm selling after reading it.

In, STONES INTO SCHOOLS, Greg shows us what truly amazing things even the simplest, weakest, least valued, and the most neglected among us are capable of achieving.Greg believes that the conflict in Afghanistan can be won with books, pencils, and other tools of socioeconomic well-being. After reading these two books, I'm convinced that this is true. He says, "to deprive Afghan children of education, is to bankrupt the future of the country, and doom any prospects of Afghanistan becoming someday a more prosperous and productive state."Greg and his incredible team are especially great at advocating for girls' education. He explains the `Girl Effect' by showing us how young women have the biggest potential for creating change in a developing world.This is an exceptionally inspiring book; I strongly recommend both, THREE CUPS OF TEA, and, STONES INTO SCHOOLS. This (STONES INTO SCHOOLS) was also the book that I choose to be the first that I purchased and read through my new Kindle. Neither one let me down in even the slightest way.[...]

Those who have read Greg Mortenson's previous book, THREE CUPS OF TEA, have no need of any detailed review of STONES INTO SCHOOLS. The latter book has the same marvelous descriptions, narration, and upbeat tone as the former. If you were impressed by the first, you will love the second for all the same reasons. By no means is reading THREE CUPS OF TEA a prerequisite for understanding and enjoying STONES INTO SCHOOLS, and the later book can be read first or without ever touching the earlier one, but why would anyone intentionally deprive himself of the experience of reading both? They are equally excellent as well as instructive.Now, if I do nothing but shower STONES with encomia, this review would be, at best, unbalanced, so allow me to pick a single nit. I don't believe that Greg Mortenson wrote it. Throughout this entire biographical, historical, non-fiction work, Mortenson is rushing hither and yon in Afghanistan and Pakistan, holding jirga (conferences) with village elders, befriending former mujahadeen commanders, soliciting the support of American military officers, corralling construction supplies, and ferrying cash through hostile territory to pay teachers. When he finds himself back in the United States, he's continually on speaking tours to colleges, universities, book clubs, military academies, civic organizations, and public schools. Greg Mortenson has no time to write a book, and I am not at all ready to credit him as the author of this one. My skepticism is more or less confirmed in the Acknowledgements section (pages 381 - 382) when Mortenson thanks "two dedicated writers," Mike Bryan and Kevin Fedarko, for their "marathon efforts ... to bring this book to the finish line...."So there it is: Greg Mortenson's name on the dust jacket and the title page notwithstanding, he is not the author, but you know, that is almost entirely beside the point. The point is that this book, like its predecessor, is about Greg Mortenson's efforts, and those of the entire Central Asia Institute staff, to accomplish something positive, far reaching, and significant in a region of harsh topography and climate, a region that has been wracked by warfare for three decades, that has endured invasions by two major world powers, the USSR and the USA, and that is under continuing attack by reactionary Taliban fighters. The amazing thing is the extent to which these efforts have succeeded and are still succeeding.STONES INTO SCHOOLS is inspirational. It reads like a fictional adventure book. The action never flags. The suspense is tangible. The reader is determined to see how Mortenson or one of his compatriots can overcome the next challenge, and those challenges keep coming one after another. As we read, we wonder when Hollywood will come out with the movie version--and then we remember that this is not fiction at all, and we are amazed at the real-life drama unfolding in the pages. Moreover, we glimpse the peaceful, beautiful and friendly sides of countries and peoples that are too often portrayed in the media as stark, barren, and hostile. And we see a people with a tradition of illiteracy exhibiting a terrible thirst for education.In short, both THREE CUPS OF TEA and STONES INTO SCHOOLS are, in retrospect, both sobering and instructional, yet both read like exciting adventure stories. For whom might I recommend these books? That's an easy one, for the answer is "everyone" from middle-school students to senior citizens. I honestly feel that you, whoever you may be, will enjoy the trip through these books and will come to the end of your literary journey a wiser person despite the fact that you enjoyed every step along the way!

On his way back, having failed to fulfill his obsessive need to memorialize his sister, he gets lost and almost dies before meeting the villagers of Korphe, Pakistan, and, before he leaves their company, forms his new obsession. His new obsession, which combines facing insurmountable odds with improving the lives of little girls, is still playing out, and it demonstrates many things, starting with the power of one person to change the world for the better. Both books are adventure tales of the highest order--the dangers are real, the army of school builders is brave physically, culturally, and politically. To obsessives, educating the children, is so much more important than living a comfortable life, or even living past the end of the week. Mortenson tells more of the story himself in Stones, and I prefer the style of the second book to the first. In Three Cups of Tea, David Oliver Relin produced the final text, and its stylistic felicities do not triumph over the sheer length of many of his sentences. Mortenson and his research assistants in Stones are more merciful to the reader who wants to arrive at the predicate of the sentence with some idea of that the subject was.Each of these books is an adventure story, a travelogue with the texture and richness of a good novel, with sympathetic and admirable characters, a history lesson about a part of the world most of us know little about, and a wonderfully inspiriting account of a gently obsessive man's arrival at the top of a much tougher mountain than K2. Read both books and applaud, and send some money if you can.

The book is nicley presented by the author, clear texts and instructions but for a newbie like me a bit confusing, which is no fault of anyone but the information is quite interesting. It is a great book for knowledge and definitely a powerful addition to one's library, it was worth ever cent i paid. Great work Samuel Matthers.

If you're looking for the sigils they are all but illegible in this book. Very small, some so small the ink just blobs up and you can't read the letters. Some of the pictures, the ink didn't even print properly. Truly a piece of junk. Don't try to cheap out and buy this. Go for the moderately priced copies and save yourself the time and frustration.

Copypasta with (as has been noted several times already) extremely low quality images throughout. Looks like it was downloaded off some random occult website and resold here. Shameful.The commentary from the so-called editor worthless and poorly written. I've learned my lesson to avoid everything from this fool from now. Blatant taking advantage of lax copyright laws to "republish" public domain info in very poor quality. $5 wasted, but a valuable lesson learned. I feel bad for the trees that died to make this.

I’ve purchased 4 similar books on the same topic, and this is the first one I don’t regret buying. It’s got tons of information and is essentially what I was looking for.

One of the problems is that the drawings and writings in the drawing are indistinct and if the purity of self discipline is of great importance then it must apply the technical drawing as well so these drawings must be edited to be technically correct, I'm so sorry ?!!?

Star Child is the third book I've read written by Leo Petracci whose quickly becoming one of my few must-read authors.I think what makes Leo's work particularly compelling is that he explores how something fantastical would influence society in a very realistic and rational way. If everyone had super powers, what would that world look like? How would people interact with each other in modern society? Leo is very much a world-builder and is a bit of a throw-back to Robert Heinlein in that his stories explore social themes.While Star Child is in the superhero genre, it's more grounded in creating a world where superpowers are common place. They exist within society and the world has adapted around them. Star Child is far more similar to "Wearing the Cape" by Marion Harmon or "Confessions of a D-List Supervillain" by Jim Bernheimer than it is to classical comic-book stories like the Avengers or X-Men.The story itself is incredibly engaging and has plenty of hooks to keep you reading. I don't want to spoil the story but I highly recommend reading it and Leo's other novels. If you like being entertained, you'll enjoy reading Star Child.

Character acts smart sometimes and completely idiotic the next when he's supposed to be intelligent according to his bkgrnd they keep repeating... Not so much author, not so much... The concept was nice and I might read the next one, but I almost gave up on the stupidity in several spots in this book. Its a mixed bag. The narrator saved this book. If I was reading this myself, I would have dropped it instead of sticking with it till the end.

Places of Power is the fourth Leo Petracci novel I have read and I am hooked on him as an author. I like his writing style and character development. The book is easy to read, I spent my Sunday devouring it, but don’t expect a simple straight line plot. It warped and twisted in the way a good author knows how to do, bringing the reader down a new path until he forgets the original issue as he is now immersed in a completely different story than where he started.We meet SC, Star Child to his mom with whom he lives in a somewhat squalid apartment. Things go awry, SC’s mom is taken away by the police, SC ends up in a juvenile detention facility where naturally things are not all they are cracked up to be, and he meets a girl, Ariel. We also meet some fellow prisoners who become friends, Lucio, Darien, and Slugger, and some not so friendly associates as well. As SC learns how to use his unnatural powers and control them, he also learns how to grow up. Pressure mounts on the detention center and fellow prisoners are pitted against each other in life and death struggles. SC has to find his mom, save the girl, and possibly, just maybe, save his friends and in the long run society as well. Grab and copy and hang on, it’s a fun ride.

I read this book from beginning to end and just couldn't understand why I paid for this.At no point did any of the characters feel real or the dialog seem to be something anyone would ever speak aloud.I liked the barest seed of the premise but it never really grew into anything substantive at all.

Here I am, up at midnight because I just HAD to finish this book! It was so interesting and the world building for the powers and how they worked into society was very well done. The plot started off small and before I knew it had snowballed into a large conspiracy I couldn't begin to guess the depths of.If you like books about clever children, you'll LOVE this one!

Solid world building made a bit flimsy with a plot with way too many convenient happenstances. More than the cliche hero happening to be listening at the right corner just at the right time, everything is tied together too closely. There are no degrees of separation, everything that happens in the story is just one connection away from everything else.In real life the kidnapper doesn't just happen to be a neighbor of the police officer that gets assigned to your case. Then you and the officer realize that you went to the same college and you visit his house as friends and happen to pass a window of the neighbor where you catch a glimpse of her through a mirror tied up in another room. There are simply too many points in the story where everything is just too... close.

The book starts with an interesting idea and expands on it in a wonderful way. This sort of setting just begs for characters with the standard water manipulation and fire control and lightning type of powers, but there's a lot of varied and interesting powers that are explored such as the group think and diamond skin. It keeps the world interesting throughout the book and definitely adds potential for a sequel where more of these powers are explored.The story was intriguing and followed a good path, where new information about the world and powers added a lot of depth to some interesting plot points. The ending was better than I expected and was built around a solid base from the tidbits of knowledge gathered throughout the book.I'd definitely recommend this book if you're into fantasy series such as the Codex Alera or the Dresden files as the plot follows the same style where the later parts of the story rely on details from earlier in the book.

A fun and engaging story with lots of originality! Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it reads a little choppy in places. Still, that’s a very minor thing, and I definitely recommend reading this book. You’ll love it. After a while it gets hard for a bookworm like me to find more high quality original fantasy reading, so this was an unexpected gem. The plot really lived up to its potential (which sadly isn’t always the case), and the premise, characters, and superpower applications were all awesome and well-crafted. I am looking forward to book 2!

I thought this book would be more informative for cruising but it's mostly informative for living in a dock and buying boats to live in a dock. If living in a dock is what you want then this is the book for you but if actually sailing your boat is what you want then this is not the book for you.

This book provided an interesting level of insight from an author who lives aboard his boat but also appears to have and otherwise "normal" life in that he has a job and is not a sailing gypsy, not that there is anything wrong with living that dream, but it is not available to many of us. Thus this book fully met my expectations of many of the realities of living aboard a sailboat. While some tet is repeated apparently I suppose since many of the chapters were written at different times and then composed into a book. Still I found the topic interesting enough to get through the entire book in just a few days of spare time reading. I would strongly suggest anyone preparing themselves for this lifestyle change read this book. It is not how to prepare your boat for blue water sailing as there are books for that, but how to prepare yourself and your boat for the adjustment to living aboard a very small space. I did find it eye-opening to realize all of the possessions one has accumulated in their lives might have to be disposed of permanently or transferred into a more space efficient medium. Clearly something to reckon with before you sell your house! Overall a good and worthwhile read.! I am happy to have purchased the book and had the opportunity to share the perspective the author provided.

This is a must read for anyone contemplating living aboard a boat. Living aboard includes those wishing to do the Great Loop(you will be living aboard for 9 months afterall). However, this is not a cruising guide to doing the loop. It is a comprehensive book that I suspect everyone will take something from dealing with the boat buying process starting with common sense thoughts about what you want vs what you need, the importance of using a broker, financing, costs of operation and the whole buying process. If you are considering doing the loop or just living aboard (read, the same thing) this is where you should begin.Many have criticized the author for talking about Boston too much. In all fairness, it is well written citing real experiences and Boston is where his boat is! I would no expect him to write about Marathon if he has never lived aboard there. His cold weather principles are sound and should be helpfulI am getting closer and closer to my loop target age and I am reading and re-reading many books that will be helpful in my decisions. I highly recommend adding this to your must read list.The author seems intelligent, yet not arrogant and the book is well laid out as well as written.

This is more of a resource for living on board in a marina. We are cruisers, so much of the information didn't apply to our situation.

Great and very helpful book. I like what he writes...makes a lot of sense. He says, "Boats grow on trees." Yes, there is always a better deal out there; so never worry about not finding your special boat. I learned much from reading this book. I would recommend it to other boaters who may be thinking about living on their much loved boats.

This book is destined for people who wants to live aboard....not sailing....just to make sure that you get the point . There is a lot of comparison in therm of prices and things you must know when you are thinking of living aboard. What is included what is not, what you should get and so on.It's very interesting...The boat of the authors mark Nicholas the Morning Fog is actually at the Monty's bay marina in NY on Champlain lake.... The name of the boat is still there......in june 2017

This is a unique work on an unusual topic and it is full of information that will benefit me greatly. The author brings topics through in a manner that resonates in his own voice and personality. He is so full of common sense and integrity. He focuses on a myriad of topics and espouses a need for responsibility and equity. Very well delivered and so interesting that it was a pleasure reading.

This book discusses a lot of topics relating to living aboard but there is nothing really enlightening to anyone who has been around boating for a few years. After reading the entire book, I maybe learned one or two things. Unless you are a novice when is comes to boating, I would skip this book. On the other hand, if you are a novice, this is a must read. It also has some good informations for living aboard in snowy climites but I suspect the audience for that type of info is very limited.
